Target Audience
This course is designed for primary care providers, including internists, family physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, and PAs who provide care for elderly patients, including those living in the community, assisted living, and nursing home settings.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Apply the results of recent blood pressure trials to the elderly patient and formulate appropriate targets for blood pressure management.
- Identify risk factors associated with frailty in older adults; utilize common frailty assessment tools and potential interventions.
- Recognize features of delirium in the elderly and summarize current preventive strategies.
- Identify common sexual issues in the aging female and formulate effective strategies for treatment.
- Employ targeted approaches to treating common symptoms at the end of life.
- Distinguish benign from malignant lesions in the geriatric patients.
- Recognize features of depression in late life; formulate effective treatment and follow-up strategies.
