This continuous medical education symposium includes lectures, panel discussions, open question and answer, and interactive audience-response sessions in anesthesia and perioperative management. It is intended for practicing anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists and perioperative healthcare providers. The medical CME focuses on current information useful for those with an interest in clinical anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.

Target Audience

This course is designed for anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, anesthesia techs, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Develop preoperative assessment and optimization processes to improve post-operative outcomes, patient experience, and costs of care
  • Identify safe and effective ways to establish anesthesia for intrapartum cesarean delivery in laboring patients
  • Calculate risks versus benefits to formulate ideal anesthetic plan for the high-risk patient
  • Describe perioperative ERAS principles for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgery
  • Review perioperative risk stratification for type of surgery and patient characteristics
  • Summarize recent advances in perioperative Patient Blood Management (PBM)

Lectures will be broadcast to the alternative spaces. Audience response/polling and question and answer sessions for all participants will be electronically facilitated and can be accessed from a computer or mobile device.
