26th Annual Nicotine Dependence Conference - Tobacco and Nicotine: A Continuum of Risk

The 26th annual Nicotine Dependence Center conference will explore the continuum of risk of cigarettes, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and approved pharmacotherapies for treating tobacco use disorder.  The conference will work to answer:

  • What do we know about the relative health risks of cigarettes, other tobacco products, and vaping devices?
  • What is the role and relative effectiveness of e-cigarettes compared with approved medications for addressing tobacco dependence?
  • How do e-cigarettes and new tobacco products threaten public health as gateways into nicotine addiction for young people?

  • Cutting-edge information on FDA approved medications for treating tobacco dependence.
  • Updates on current prevalence trends and the regulatory landscape for the treatment of patients. 
  • Opportunities to network and share professional perspectives on the impact of current changes in the clinical practice.

Target Audience

This program is designed for physicians and other health care professionals experienced in working with tobacco dependent patients, and who are interested in incorporating more effective treatment into their practice and/or developing more comprehensive services to meet the needs of highly tobacco dependent patients. Physicians, tobacco treatment specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, chemical dependency counselors, respiratory therapists, nurses, dental hygienists, wellness coaches, social workers and other allied health professionals may find the conference beneficial in working with this challenging population of patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify up-to-date information on prevalence and relative risks of tobacco, e-cigarettes, and FDA approved medications for treating tobacco use disorder. 
  • Discuss strategies for treating tobacco use disorder within the context of rapidly evolving nicotine delivery products. 
  • Describe the current regulatory state and plans for regulating nicotine delivery products in USA
