What can I expect?

  • This is not a test. Performance will not be shared outside of the simulation center.
  • You will have an opportunity to manage critical and unusual situations in a safe, non-threatening environment that poses no risk to patients.
  • You will reflect upon and analyze your performance, as well as that of your peers.

Who are the other participants?

Other participants will be anesthesiologists like you. There will be no fewer than four in your group and no more than six. There will be two or more instructors.

What kind of cases will be covered?

Scenarios will not be specialty-specific — the cases are those that any practicing anesthesiologist would be expected to manage. Throughout the course of the day, you'll see cases with respiratory instability, hemodynamic instability, airway challenges, and crew resource management challenges, among others.

How do I get my credit for the MOCA requirement?

At the end of the day, you will be given a web link that offers a questionnaire managed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. You must fill out the evaluation and answer the questions. A follow-up questionnaire will arrive 30 days after the first one is completed.

When both questionnaires are completed, the ASA will send notification of completion of the simulation experience to the ABA. Our center does not notify the ABA of completion of this exercise.
