Health care professionals increasingly recognize that trust in medicine is critical to deliver high value care. Studies show that incorporating humanities into health care builds trust and improves quality. This course demonstrates tools from Health Humanities to address gaps that lead to loss of trust, decreased quality and increased provider burden.

Share your quality improvement efforts at the 2020 Quality Symposium Arizona: Application of Health Humanities to build trust and improve quality in health care. The Quality Symposium is an annual event with presentations by Mayo Clinic experts, as well as regional and national health quality and improvement leaders. This event will be held April 1, 2020 in the Waugh Auditorium on the Phoenix, AZ Hospital Campus.
Submit poster abstracts through February 10, 2020. Abstracts will be reviewed by Mayo Clinic Quality Academy Faculty. Top-scoring posters will be recognized at the conference. Residents and other trainees are encouraged to participate. Their abstracts will be judged in a separate trainee category.
Target Audience
This conference is intended for all health care professionals both clinical and non-clinical.
Learning Objectives
After taking this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the importance of building trust in health care
- Define Health Humanities
- Demonstrate how Health Humanities techniques can be used to foster trust with patients and other professionals
- Design their quality improvement portfolio using unique and creative approaches to building trust
