Pharmacy Grand Rounds 10/12/2015: The end of LDL as we know it? Getting down with PCSK9 inhibitors.
Activity Overview
This presentation will provide a brief review of evidence for low density lipoprotein (LDL) reduction as it pertains to cardiovascular risk. The presenter will discuss recent literature regarding proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors and their impact on LDL reduction.
Target Audience
This continuing education (CE) activity was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists and other clinicians who routinely prescribe and/or monitor medications.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this knowledge-based CE activity, participants should be able to:
- Review current evidence for LDL reduction in relation to cardiovascular risk
- Discuss recent literature investigating the use of PCSK9 inhibitors for LDL reduction
- Identify appropriate patients for PCSK9 inhibitor therapy
