Advancements in physical medicine and rehabilitation are moving forward at an unprecedented rate. In order to stay abreast of these advancements and refine our expertise, physical medicine and rehabilitation professionals require opportunities to collaborate and share information. This course is designed to update professionals with regards to topics and techniques pertaining to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Some topics of interest include: musculoskeletal rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, opioid and pain management, sports medicine for disabled athletes, spinal cord injury, advancements in ultrasound techniques, spasticity management, care challenges after brain surgery and cancer rehabilitation.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the most up to date rehabilitation treatment recommendations.
  • Describe the appropriate usage of managing opioid medication and other pain management stratagies.
  • Recognize the current concepts of “Regenerative Medicine” and how this may apply to patient care.
  • Describe the principles of clinical decision making for treatment of a spastic patient.
  • Identify the common management strategies for treating a  patient with cancer.
  • Review the current concepts for lymphedema management.
