Pain management is a combination of science and art. We have a variety of treatment options to choose from however some have significant potential for harm and some the potential to be abused and carry the risk of dependence. We need to choose our treatments carefully, based on the type of pain we are treating as well as other health conditions found in our patient. In addition to the various analgesic products, other options include injections, nerve blocks and several integrative medicine alternatives. In this podcast, we’ll discuss the various pain management options we have available and hopefully give you some new ideas to help manage pain in your patients. Mayo Clinic’s Microvascular Surgery Skills Training Course is a five-day program focused on skill development in the use of microvascular surgical techniques. Limited to four attendees per session, the course allows each attendee to receive extensive, individualized training. The instruction incorporates demonstrations, microvascular skills practice and detailed handouts. Attendees will work with the course instructor to schedule a week that is both convenient and well-suited to individual skills.

For the first time, Mayo Clinic is pleased to offer an online CME course for primary care practitioners drawing from the expertise of leaders in dermatology. This course features conversation style lectures in a self-paced, fully virtual format. Topics are available in eleven modules including skin exams, cancers, acneiform disorders, inflammatory skin disease, infections, hair, nails and mucus membranes, cosmetic dermatology, dermatology for skin of color, pediatric dermatology, systemic manifestations, medications, and environmental impacts on skin.
