The annual Mayo Clinic Florida Value Symposium serves as a celebration among Mayo Clinic colleagues to share stories and examples of process improvements that positively influence outcomes in patient safety, service, experience, and equity for patients and staff alike. The goal of the symposium is thus to educate, inspire, and galvanize staff to engage in quality activities that improve the value provided to our patients. In 2024, the symposium focuses on the quality improvement activities by staff under the theme: Humanizing AI Implementation in Healthcare: Maintaining a Patient and Staff Centric Culture. The program will includes an interactive session, facilitated by quality experts and available to all attendees. The poster gallery will be both virtual and in-person where participants can share their experiences and educate colleagues about quality improvement, patient safety and patient experience.

Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine 2024

May 5 - 10, 2024 - Hotel Cozumel and Resort - San Miguel de Cozumel, Mexico

This course is aimed at providing specialized medical knowledge to physicians engaged in diving and hyperbaric medicine. It includes presentations and hands-on workshops on a variety of topics about diving and hyperbaric medicine. This course is organized in conjunction with the department of hyperbaric medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Dive Logistics/Gear Rental 2 tank dive $120 or (2000 pesos) includes Air tanks, weights, marine park fee, ground transportation to the boat (saves time), $10 tip for the boat crew. Nitrox tank $15 extra per tank Night dive $65 (includes tip) Light rental $5 Nitrox certification during the course (boat dive fee and tanks see above) $195 (includes e-learning and instruction) Refresher course $50 Re-activate course $145 (includes e-learning and instructor fee) Open water referral $100 Rental fee $20 complete package per day $10 for individual rental gear such as Fins mask snorkel, BC, Regulator, Computer, Wetsuit per day Prices are in USD cash, pre-paid on site at the beginning of your diving week. Walk up divers will be accommodated on a space available basis and incur an additional $20. We have a very large dive group (meaning diving friends) this year and pre-payment is needed to rent the right number of additional boats each day. Credit cards (Visa, Master card and American Express) are welcome and incur a 5% bank fee. A suggested tip for the boat crew this year is $10/diver/day ($5/night dive)

Chronic neck and back pain are some of the greatest contributors to disability and functional impairment in the United States as well as globally. This month we will discuss management approaches to addressing chronic spine pain specifically through the lens of functional impairment, with a focus on improving the overall quality of life for this patient population.
