2023 Livestream CNE Course Series - Mayo Clinic - Rochester Minnesota

This livestream CNE course is designed as a beginner overview of ECG rhythm interpretation for cardiac monitoring. The course focuses on basic cardiac rhythm identification including some pathophysiology and treatment interventions. 12 lead ECG interpretation is not included. This course will be conducted as a live web stream with an expert instructor and includes hands on practice time interpreting ECG rhythms. Self-paced pre & post work is also included in this course. Included in the registration fee is a set of digital calipers and the "Basic ECG Redbook" (a comprehensive workbook).

The course will begin with a discussion of echocardiographic assessment of left and right ventricular function, including presentations on diastolic function and strain imaging for assessing myocardial function. We will then discuss a broad range of disease states for which echocardiography is useful, including ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, pericardial disease, and cardiomyopathies. The presentations will include basic concepts as well as advanced techniques including 3-D imaging and strain imaging. Throughout the course many cases will be presented.

This course reviews the methods available to detect latent infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), including the classic tuberculin skin test and the more recently developed interferon gamma release assays (IGRA). The advantages and limitations of each of these methods are discussed and the latest recommendations on their use are presented. This course also includes a discussion of recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on routine screening of healthcare workers for LTBI using IGRAs.
