Diabetes Intensive Training – April 7 – June 30, 2020

Diabetes Intensive Training course is a graduate level professional enhancement course geared toward practicing providers and offered on a quarterly basis. The course is self-paced and web-based.  It is recommended for healthcare providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses who are looking for a higher level intense study course. It includes 16 modules of online education using Blackboard Learn management system.  Each module consists of a presentation, self-assessment quiz and an interactive case study. Each participant has about 12 weeks to complete the course, pass the post test with a score of 80% or better and complete a course evaluation to receive credit.

The 16 modules each take an average of two hours to complete and include self-assessments and case studies. Course content includes diabetes pathophysiology, interventions, insulin, comprehensive diabetes evaluation, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and co-morbidities. 

All course materials will be provided to you from the course director via email 2 days before the start of the course.

Target Audience

This course is designed for primary care providers – Family Medicine and General Internal Medicine MDs, Pharmacists, Dietitians, NPs, RNs and APRNs.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Integrate the principles of theory and research of nursing and medicine into comprehensive health care plan for patients with diabetes including prevention, promotion and treatment 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of evidence based and clinical guidelines in treatment of diabetes inpatient and outpatient management.
  • Develop and acquire skills for self- directed lifelong learning and staying current in diabetes management (prevention, promotion and treatment).
