Mayo Clinic's 3rd Annual Therapeutic Advances for Advanced Practice Providers and Nurses: Hematology/Oncology Patient Care and Challenges 2019 will be held in Jacksonville, Florida. This continuing medical education (CME) conference will focus on the needs of advanced practice providers, nurse practitioners, ARNPs (APRN), and nurses regarding the care of patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies. The course will feature lectures, case presentations, panels discussions, interactive group discussions, and a poster session. Topics will include developing treatment plans for patients with multiple presentations of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), CAR T cell treatment and therapy complications, challenging gastrointestinal malignancy cases, multidisciplinary approaches toward treatments for cancer patients, and indications for immunotherapy and associated complications. This year we are proud to offer 4.5 hours of pharmacology content.

Abstracts

It is our pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract to be included at an electronic poster session. Abstracts must be in the area of hematology and oncology and must either be original research or case reports. Posters will be peer reviewed. Original abstracts (limit 250 words) are encouraged for submission. Accepted abstract presenters will need to register for the conference. Target Audience

This course is designed for advanced practice providers, chemotherapy nurses, fellows and community physicians.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a treatment plan for a patient with multiple presentations with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
  • Demonstrate understanding about CART cell treatment and be able to recognize and manage complications of this type of therapy.
  • Discuss and recognize the different challenging cases in gastrointestinal malignancies.
  • Incorporate a multidisciplinary approach toward the treatment of each cancer patient.
  • Improve awareness of the indications for immunotherapy and formulate a treatment plan for these complications.

Parking is available in multiple lots on the Mayo Clinic Florida campus. The closest complimentary parking to the Kinne Auditorium located in the Cannaday Building, is available for visitors in Patient Parking Lots C and D.
