Infectious Diseases Practice Updates 2024

This interactive course provides practical updates on common topics and challenges faced with infectious diseases and key information on the application of new developments in the field. Information is delivered by subject matter experts using case-based presentations and in-depth discussions including question and answer sessions geared to increase knowledge, performance, and patient outcomes. Attendees leave with up-to-date, practical information that can be applied immediately to their clinical practice.
The 2024 course focuses on critically ill patients, primary immune deficiencies, mycobacterial diseases (tuberculous and nontuberculous), infection prevention and control, and gastrointestinal, transplant, orthopedic, and travel/tropical infections. The course also includes a review of recent important practice-impacting papers.

This course is relevant for infectious diseases specialists, infectious diseases trainees, internists, pharmacists, hospitalists, and clinical infectious diseases researchers. The content also benefits physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, family physicians and clinical microbiologists with interest in managing patients with infections.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify methods to diagnose and manage patients with primary immunodeficiencies
- Review the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal infections, including C. difficile infection
- Identify principles of diagnosis and management of mycobacterial infections
- Describe new management strategies in critically ill patients
- Recall advances in the diagnosis and management of transplant, travel, and tropical medicine infections
- Define diagnosis and management strategies of native and hardware-associated vertebral osteomyelitis

Daily Resort Fee ($20):
The daily resort fee $40 is discounted at a rate of $20 per room per night for all attendees staying at the resort. The fee includes the following:
- Daily enhanced internet service ("accept fees to access account" will not be charged)
- Local & long-distance domestic calls
- Airport shuttle on demand
- Daily fitness classes (alternating yoga and aqua fit, up to 2 people)
- Cultural classes
- 24-hour access to fitness center
- One (1) appetizer or dessert in Kukui's restaurant per room, per stay
- Two (2) complimentary Mai Tais at Kukui's restaurant per room, per stay
Additional taxes will apply. Parking is available at the hotel. Discounted rates are available for guests staying at the resort for $20/night self-parking and $40/night for valet. Parking rates subject to change.

ABIM Maintenance of Certification
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participate to earn up to 24.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. Optional Royal College Statement
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME's "CME in Support of MOC" program in Section 3 of the Royal College's MOC Program.
