Lumbar Spine Care Symposium 2018

Lower back pain (LBP) is one of the most common reasons patients seek care. This spine symposium will be used to expand the knowledge of spine care. It is designed to help primary care providers, chiropractors and physical therapists better diagnose and refer patients with back pain as appropriate. It will provide these audiences with safe and effective guidelines for managing LBP patients, including clinical presentation and evaluation; indications for imaging; conservative and non-opioid intervention; indications for surgical evaluation; surgical treatment options; and pre/post-operative care for basic and complex spine conditions.

 

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for MDs/DOs, Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PAs), Chiropractors, Nurses and Rehabilitation Service Providers.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate general evaluation of lower back pain patients
  • Describe current guidelines to treat lower back pain patients
  • Identify regional experts to discuss conservative treatment options for these patients
  • Differentiate signs and symptoms which should result in a referral to a spine specialist
  • Describe effective alternatives to opioid treatment for LBP patients 
  • Describe indications, pre and post-operative care for common lumbar spine procedures
  • Describe pre and post-operative management for complex degenerative spine case
