Thoracic malignancies represent the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. This continuing medical education activity will focus on recent developments in medical, surgical, radiation and medical oncologic care of patients with malignancies of the chest. The conference will emphasize recent developments in molecular pathways of carcinogenesis and immunobiology as well as novel surgical and interventional techniques. Important clinical advances and clinical trials including surgical, medical, radiation and palliative management will be presented by a distinguished faculty.

Target Audience

This course is designed for hematology oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, oncology nurses, and healthcare professionals involved in cancer care. Also of interest to pulmonary, critical care and general internal medicine physicians who may want to enhance their thoracic oncologic knowledge.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Select appropriate patients for lung cancer screening.
  • Evaluate the benefit for minimally invasive over open thoracic surgery.
  • Recognize the role of particle beam radiation in thoracic malignancy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the role of immunotherapy in thoracic cancers.
