Target Audience

This activity is appropriate for physicians, pedorthists, podiatrists, advanced practice providers (NP/PA, RN, CNS, LPN, etc.), physical therapists, dietitians, and others who care for patients in need of wound management.

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the principles underlying the care of chronic wounds
  • Describe systemic factors that may impair healing
  • Describe specific diagnostic tests related to wound assessment
  • Identify patients at risk for developing pressure ulcers
  • Discuss offloading and management of neuropathic wounds
  • Describe interventions which can contribute to healing or prevention of venous wounds
  • Discuss surgical revascularization and debridement
