This course empowers faculty with the skills and resources to utilize inclusive language and reinforce brave learning environments. Through discussions led by local and national experts, the impact of personal bias on ourselves and our interactions with our learners is examined. This highly interactive course offers each of us a unique opportunity to engage in large group learning, dialogue in small group settings, and reflect individually.
Target Audience
This course is designed for Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science faculty including physicians, researchers, and allied health staff.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Develop foundational knowledge regarding bias and inequities
- Develop a growth mindset to continually explore personal bias
- Examine strategies to develop and sustain brave learning spaces
- Demonstrate a critically reflective attitude regarding race, racism, and inequalities in healthcare and health professions education.
- Demonstrate empathetic communication skills to speak up against bias and racism.
