This meeting will take place as both a live in-person and a Zoom Meeting. Faculty presentations will be viewed followed by live panel discussions. Course Description and Intended Audience

Emerging Techniques and Technologies in Cardiovascular Imaging is a meeting intended to update attendees on both practical and cutting edge techniques in cardiac CT and MRI. This course is designed for physicians, residents, fellows and technologists using cardiac MRI and CT in their clinical or research practice.

Course Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Distinguish between atherosclerotic plaque burden and plaque characterization at coronary CTA
  • Identify plaque features associated with poor prognosis
  • Describe techniques for quantifying atherosclerotic plaque at coronary CTA
  • Describe scientific studies associating thoracic aorta diameter with adverse outcomes by listing sources of variability in thoracic aorta measurements
  • Explain strategies for standardizing thoracic aorta measurements
  • Rank the sequences in a cardiac MRI exam in order of the clinical utility for commonly encountered indications – namely viability, assessment of arrhythmias, and myocarditis
  • Describe imaging techniques and modifications to optimize cardiac MRI imaging in patients with poor breath-holding or arrhythmias
  • Describe technical challenges of fetal MRI
  • Describe indications for fetal MRI with emphasis on cardiac and thoracic indications, including heterotaxy, ectopia cordis, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia
  • Identify key imaging parameters for pre-operative planning of transcatheter interventions
