This live and livestream course provides the latest, state-of-the-art information on the diagnosis and management of common disorders such as chronic nausea, nutrition in IBD, gastroparesis, management of acute and chronic pancreatitis and PEG tube related issues, alcoholic hepatitis, fatty liver, and strategies for screening populations at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Friday offers a full-day, interactive, live-endoscopy session where participants have the unique opportunity to ask the endoscopists questions (via livestream) while the procedures are taking place. Saturday offers didactic lectures with panel discussions for interactive Q & A opportunities with course faculty members. Active audience participation is strongly encouraged.

LIVE (in-person) attendees must comply with all live course requirements and guidelines and applicable state and local COVID-19 travel restrictions, guidance and resources.  

Please note that LIVE course attendees must: 

  • Complete COVID-19  testing of any kind (home tests are acceptable) and received a negative test result within 72 hours of the event start date OR
  • A positive COVID-19 test result of any kind was received within the past 90 days, it has been at least 10 days since COVID-19 infection, and you are currently asymptomatic.  
  • You must be logged in to ce.mayo.edu to  complete your attestation.   (Attestations can be completed starting Tuesday, September 27, 2022) 

Learners who do not fulfill the above requirements will be unable to attend this live (in-person) event. 

Requirements and guidelines may be amended as CDC, public health and other relevant guidance are adjusted.

Target Audience

This course welcomes a multidisciplinary audience, comprised of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, residents, fellows, and medical school students who have an interest in treating gastroenterology and hepatology patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Gastroenterology:

  • Review updated therapeutic approach to chronic nausea
  • Describe expanding diagnostic modalities for the management of gastroparesis
  • Describe expanding therapeutic modalities for the management of gastroparesis
  • Describe nutrition management for patients with inflammatory bowel disease
  • Explain the clinical options regarding management for acute and chronic pancreatitis
  • Evaluate current recommendations for PEG tube placement and management of potential complications

Hepatology:

  • Evaluate current preventative and therapeutic strategies for the management of portal hypertension and its complications
  • Appraise current management of fatty liver disease
  • Review strategies for optimizing the early detection and management of hepatocellular carcinoma

We reserved a small block of rooms at the Residence Inn Desert View Phoenix at Mayo Clinic. The room rate is $159/night, plus applicable state and local taxes (currently 12.57%). This rate is available until August 29, 2022 or until the room block fills.

The hotel is located on the Mayo Clinic Phoenix campus, but is considered within walking distance of the Mayo Clinic Hospital/Franke Education Center. (Shuttle service from the hotel to the Mayo Clinic Hospital is available upon request.)
