This course reviews clinically important information regarding the management of cardiac and vascular diseases affecting patients with cancer and cancer survivors. The interactive, practice-based format includes case presentations and state-of-the-art lectures on recent and topical developments in this emerging field. The goal is to improve quality, safety and outcomes for patients within this dynamic and interactive educational experience. The current state of knowledge of common cardiovascular complications such as heart failure (HF), myocardial ischemia, hypertension (HTN), thromboembolism, and arrhythmia is associated with frequently used anticancer medications.

Target Audience

This course is designed for clinical cardiologists, heart failure specialists, oncologists, hematologists, internal medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and allied health personnel working in cardiology or hematology-oncology areas.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe pharmacotherapy and device therapy and advanced therapies in the management of patients with cardiotoxicity.
  • Identify diagnostic, clinical, and management options in the care of cardiovascular patients with cancer.
  • Use a case based approach to understand, treat and manage complex cancer patients with cardiovascular disease

Hands-on Workshop Objective:

• Identify the practicalities of accurate and valid measurement of cardiac chambers and novel echocardiographic measures for early detection of cardiotoxicity using strain imaging.

Group rates will apply three days prior to and three days after the course dates based on group room availability. Children under the age of 17 will stay complimentary. Third or fourth adult person rates are $50 each. Attendees are responsible for their own reservations. 

A deposit equal to one night’s stay ($325.00 plus tax) is required to hold each individual’s reservation. The deposit shall serve to confirm the reservation for the date(s) indicated, and, upon check-in, shall be applied to the final night of the reserved stay. The deposit paid by individuals is refundable if notice is received at least seven (7) days prior to arrival and a cancellation number is obtained.
