The Mayo Clinic Division of Primary Care Internal Medicine is pleased to offer this one-day program to provide family practitioners, internists, general practitioners, advanced nurse practitioners and PAs with current information on the care of the elderly, including clinical evaluation, management strategies and innovative practice models.

Target Audience

This course is designed for primary care providers - including internists, family physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, and physician assistants – who provide care for elderly patients, including those living in the community, assisted living, and nursing home settings.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Manage Parkinson’s Disease and its sequelae
  • Reduce unnecessary/non-beneficial polypharmacy in older patients
  • Describe optimal management of chronic pain, balancing risks and benefits of treatment in the elderly
  • Develop a pragmatic approach to heart failure management in the elderly
  • Summarize the most salient literature updates in geriatric research from the past year
