This program focuses on acute care of the hospitalized patient and is applicable to internists, hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, advanced practice nurses, RN's, and administrators from novice to experienced. The course covers everything from critical care, hospital general medicine, surgery, neurology, cardiology, oncology, pain management and other medical subspecialties. As hospital care models continue to evolve; nurse practitioners and physician assistants are playing an increasingly vital role in the care delivery of hospitalized patients. This conference focuses on providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines and treatment pathways necessary to optimally care for hospitalized patients. The course features multiple options for skills workshops to further tailor the educational needs of NPPA's.

  • Formulate an action plan based on scientific rationale, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines
  • Analyze the future of hospital medicine and the vital role NPPAs will provide caring for hospitalized patients
  • Initiate appropriate and timely consultation, referral or both when necessary
  • Describe assessment, current guidelines and drug therapies for pain management
  • Explain heart failure management in complex hospitalized patients
  • Explain cancer-related topics, such as palliative care, pharmacology and oncologic emergencies
