This four-day symposium includes lectures in anesthesia and perioperative management and is intended for practicing anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists and perioperative health care providers.  The emphasis is on current information useful for those with an interest in clinical anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. Audience participation is encouraged via use of an audience response system to promote interaction with the faculty. The course also features optional Masters Classes.

  • Determine the lean process approach to perioperative blood management
  • Discuss drug diversion in the health care workplace
  • Differentiate the role of spinal morphine and spinal hydromorphone on post-cesarean analgesia
  • Examine the mechanisms of perioperative nerve injury
  • Identify key aspects of anesthetic care and their role on clinical efficiency in the post-anesthesia care unit
  • Describe the critical elements of the informed consent process
  • Review common regional anesthesia techniques utilized in pediatric anesthesia practice
