Learning Objectives: Point-of-Care Ultrasound and Bedside Procedures Workshop
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Visualize the heart in at least two different windows and assess global contractility.
- Identify the pericardium and describe the appearance of a pericardial effusion.
- Visualize the inferior vena cava and estimate central venous pressure based on measurement of the diameter and collapsibility.
- Visualize the internal jugular vein and femoral vein and demonstrate how to distinguish from the tandem artery, and place central venous catheter.
- Visualize and recognize normal anatomy and physiology of pleura and underlined lungs.
- Identify pleural effusion and perform thoracentesis.
- Visualize liver, spleen, kidney, bladder, and identify free intra-abdominal fluid and perform paracentesis.
