This course is designed for internal medicine physicians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses who encounter common neurological problems in their clinical practice.

The program format will consist predominantly of case-based presentations of a comprehensive group of neurologic disorders and clinical neurologic topics. Each presentation will focus on the clinical evaluation and treatment of clinical vignettes of common neurologic problems. Discussions will be interactive and videotapes of real and "mock" patients will be used during the case presentations. Small group didactic workshops will also be presented each day to review current, evidence-based updates in the diagnosis and treatment of different categories of neurologic diseases.

This course offers optional continuing medical education (CME) and self-assessment credits. Registrants may earn credits for the self-assessment in addition to the live event. A 25-question self-assessment must be completed prior to the course activity (ABPN requirement).

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Assess diagnosis and management of common neurological disorders
• Distinguish the potential etiologies of cerebrovascular diseases, headache, dementia, movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular diseases
• Evaluate and develop a treatment plan for cerebrovascular diseases, headache, dementia, movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular diseases
• Compare benefits and risks of different therapies of treatment of seizures
• Recognize different treatment options for patients with spine diseases
• Formulate a plan for patients with spinal cord or brain metastases
• Recognize and treat different types of neurologic infectious diseases
• Formulate an algorithm for evaluating patients with peripheral neuropathy and myopathy
• Compare treatment options for Parkinson's Disease, dystonia and restless leg syndrome
• Recognize the difference between primary and secondary headache syndromes
