The 5th Annual Mayo Clinic Thyroid and Parathyroid Disorders Course 2024 is a three-day CME course offering a comprehensive review of diagnostic techniques and medical and surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders. Topics of discussion include the assessment of benign thyroid diseases as well as pre-and postoperative management of thyroid cancer and parathyroid disorders. Discussions include review of cutting-edge imaging modalities and diagnostic methods such as molecular testing for evaluation of thyroid nodules as well as therapeutic options for the management of benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid conditions. This is a one-day, simulation-based course that fulfills the simulation requirements for Part IV of MOCA. It consists of a series of simulation scenarios followed by debriefing periods with a variety of anesthetic challenges. You will be sharing the day with other anesthesiologists. Cases are ones that any board-certified anesthesiologist ought to be striving to manage and consist of team management skills, as well as skills managing hemodynamic and respiratory instability. Primary care represents the “front entryway” into the healthcare system. Primary care, family medicine, and pediatric teams are tasked with not only caring for the medical needs of their patients but with caring for the mental health needs of their patients as well. Embedding evidence-based mental health interventions within the primary care environment represents a unique opportunity to promote overall health in a less stigmatized environment, with opportunities for earlier intervention and improved outcomes. Considerable variability exists across primary care clinics in terms of populations served, patterns of medical and psychiatric conditions and comorbidities, internal and community-based mental health resources, and barriers to care. Even with minimal resources, strategic investments can be made in designing, implementing, and evaluating integrated programs within primary care. A growing evidence base also exists for brief, single-session mental health interventions that can be delivered right at the point of care. IBH teams of social workers, psychologists, nurses, and psychiatric prescribers all bring a unique skill set that can deliver highly targeted, single-session interventions to help serve the entire primary care population in a resource-efficient manner.

The program highlights key topics in cardiology to keep the practitioner current, with an emphasis on cases, updates, and clinical guidelines. The diagnosis, management, and prevention of common rhythm disorders, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular arrhythmias will be reviewed along with challenging aspects of congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and myocardial disease.
