Mayo Clinic Electrophysiology Online Board Review course focuses on an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular electrophysiology. Experts in each field will give in-depth didactics on state-of-the-art subjects in electrophysiology and device therapy. Each lecture will include questions and answers. Although this course is designed specifically to prepare the electrophysiology specialist for the electrophysiology boards or recertification, it will also provide the cardiologist or practicing electrophysiologist with an update on the latest knowledge and advances in electrophysiology. The full spectrum of electrophysiology practice will be reviewed ranging from basic arrhythmia mechanisms and pharmacology to catheter diagnosis and therapy and device-based treatments. This includes topics reviewing maneuvers for arrhythmia diagnosis in the electrophysiology laboratory and ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Splinting is a critical intervention to optimize upper extremity function for people after a variety of neurological events. In patients with hypertonicity, splinting provides prolonged stretch to reduce risk of tendon/muscle shortening and to inhibit tonal influences. For patients with cervical level spinal cord injury, splint positioning may impact tenodesis grasp patterns. This four-part series addresses upper extremity anatomy, assessment of neurological deficits, and splinting techniques of the upper extremity for patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.

Attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has the potential to impact and impair multiple aspects of life, including underachievement in education, difficulty with employment and challenging social relationships. ADHD has long been felt to be a disorder of childhood that gradually diminishes as one approaches adulthood, however it’s now being questioned whether ADHD can develop in adulthood. It’s thought that around 4% of adults have ADHD and that the majority are undiagnosed and untreated. In this podcast, we’ll discuss ADHD in adults, its effects on those who have it, and how it can be managed. Our guest is Mohit Chauhan, M.B.B.S., a psychiatrist from the Mayo Clinic.

Nearly 1 million individuals in the U.S. have multiple sclerosis. Most acquire the disease between the ages of 20 and 50. It’s often difficult to establish a diagnosis as the symptoms can be vague and often vary significantly from one individual to another. The disease can be very frightening, often debilitating, and progressive; up until recently, we’ve had very little to offer patients in the way of treatment. However, in the past few years there have been numerous advances in treatment options which have given hope to the many patients with MS. We’ll be discussing multiple sclerosis in this podcast.
