Opioid Best Practices Online CME Course

This online CME course aims to highlight the shift in guidelines and public concern regarding the use of opioids in medical practice. This course provides the most up-to-date information regarding the appropriate indication for opioids in clinical practice. Topics cover the basics of opioids, evidence-based guidelines for opioids, medication monitoring, tapering and legal considerations. In addition, the course covers a broad range of issues, including opioid addiction, difficult patient conversations, and guidelines to standardize the practice of opioid prescribing. Alternatives to opioid management are also discussed in detail, including implantable devices and procedures to manage pain. Medical providers, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, addiction experts, pharmacists and others may benefit from this multidisciplinary review and update of opioid management.

What's New in Family Medicine 2022-2023 Online Course

What's New in Family Medicine 2022-2023 online course is the 3rd in a series that focuses on a myriad of topics that are important to the broad specialty of family medicine. It will provide learners with current and relevant updates for daily management of various patient health concerns encountered commonly in primary care. Some topics that will be explored are reducing health care disparities; assessing and managing a psychiatric crisis; antimicrobial stewardship; HIV PREP; aspirin for primary prevention of CV disease; facilitation of advanced care planning and subjects that are always important to primary care including the evaluation of anemia and updates in diabetes management including the use of continuous glucose monitors. New guidelines were issued in 2022 addressing the management of mastitis spectrum disorders and the use of opioids for treatment of pain will be discussed and Point of care ultrasound (POCUS), an emerging modality in primary care, will also be explored.

Small Bowel Video Capsule Endoscopy: Training and Competency Assessment - Online Course

Available until April 1, 2027 - Online CME Course

Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) is currently considered the gold standard in the investigation of small bowel disease and is widely available in clinical practice as a noninvasive modality to examine the small bowel. This course provides a structured VCE training curriculum with a validated assessment tool for gastroenterologists and trainees and includes four hours of didactic tutoring, hardware and software instruction, and review of cases with VCE experts. Participants are then expected to complete 25 VCE interpretations. A formalized and validated assessment tool was developed and referred to as the capsule competency test (CapCT). This test evaluates the fundamentals of knowledge for the procedure including indications and contraindications, and the ability to accurately identify, interpret, and document VCE findings. Participants are required to complete the CapCT as part of their training.

Testosterone has a variety of health benefits. It helps maintain bone density, muscle mass, red blood cell production and sexual function. Testosterone levels in men tend to peak between age 30 to 40 then gradually decline and it’s not unusual to find low testosterone levels in men over the age of 50. It’s also known that in men with hypogonadism, testosterone supplementation can improve libido, bone density and muscle mass. Should we be checking testosterone levels in our middle-age male patients? How do we determine who should receive testosterone supplementation and finally what are the risks of supplementation? In this podcast, these are all questions I’ll be asking our guest, Dr. Nahid Punjani, a urologist at the Mayo Clinic as we discuss “Testosterone Supplementation in Men”.

Medical Breast Training Program Online CME Course

The Medical Breast Training Program will provide clinicians tools and knowledge to evaluate and manage common breast complaints, to perform personalized risk assessment and risk management and to care for breast cancer survivors. The goal is to educate practitioners in the field about guidelines for screening and diagnosis, risk reduction, genetics, and survivorship.  Participants, through online, pre-recorded lectures and recorded interactive case discussion sessions, will gain practical knowledge about the workup and management of common breast issues, will confidently identify and manage those at risk and will effectively care for survivors, with topics ranging from bone health to sexuality to integrative medicine.
