Nutrition, physical activity and other healthy lifestyle behaviors are vital components in the promotion of health and in the treatment of disease. This program highlights ambulatory nutrition and wellness topics with multidisciplinary faculty. This annual, four-day course (offered twice) provides the primary care practitioners a practical update on topics within the realm of internal medicine and its subspecialties with emphasis on equipping participants with information they can readily incorporate into their practice to improve quality of care and patient outcomes. The popularity of this course is in large part due to the variety of topics presented, many of which are derived from prior participant suggestions, recent advances in medicine and paradigm shifts in medicine. This course also devotes ample time to questions from the audience. This course has two sessions: October 3-6 and October 17-20, 2024. While the same 30-minute presentation topics are included for both sessions, the faculty and order of presentations may vary. In addition to the didactic format for lectures, the program includes two daily question-and-answer sessions; and audience participation is encouraged through the use of Vevox.

This six-day, in-person course contains morning sessions for lectures and afternoon sessions for practical lab training. The course materials include the Atlas of Clinical Fungi and Larone’s Medically Important Fungi. The content of the course is designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and practical laboratory skills to enhance and improve the diagnosis of fungal diseases. The topics include laboratory identification of mucormycetes, hyaline hyphomycetes, dematiaceous fungi, dermatophytes, dimorphic fungi, basidiomycetes, yeast and yeast-like fungi. In addition, fungal histopathology, MALDI-TOF MS, sequencing based identification and phylogenetic analysis, antifungal susceptibility testing, and PK/PD of antifungals are covered.

Expert lectures representing a spectrum of sports medicine fields provide the attendee with multidisciplinary information related to athletic injury evaluation, treatment, prevention, and return to play transition. Multiple educational formats are used, including case presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, as well as live demonstrations of physical examination, anatomy, ultrasound and arthroscopy. As in recent years, the symposium is broadcast via livestream for remote participation.
