• Explain the epidemiology and current standard of perioperative treatment for diabetic patients.
• Discuss potential perioperative complications that may result from improper (or absent of) treatment of perioperative hyperglycemia.
• Discuss the current evidence supporting (or lack thereof) of perioperative point of care glucose testing and hemoglobin A1C level.
