Neurology in Clinical Practice is a comprehensive course directed at practitioners who see patients with a broad range of neurologic disorders. The course is intended to provide a review of Neurology with an emphasis on case-based presentations, recent advances, and evidence-based approaches. This course features an American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Maintenance of Certification Self-Assessment Activity awarding up to 8 MOC credits.

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

A record of attendance will be provided to all registrants for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies or other professional associations.

Lodging Accommodations
Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests at the Westin Chicago River North with a special rate of $229 single/double.  In order to receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is filled or before June 21, 2015, whichever comes first. The extra person charge is $30 per night. Children under 18 years of age may stay for free in their parent’s room using existing bedding. Rates do not include applicable state and local taxes. A comprehensive course syllabus is provided to attendees as an online download or via the Mayo Clinic CME mobile app.  No printed syllabus is available.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Diagnose and manage common neurologic disorders.
  • Manage patients with acute stroke and be aware of secondary prevention options
  • Differentiate various types of seizures and develop an approach to seizure management
  • Recognize and treat neurologic infections
  • Develop a practical approach to the management of the dizzy patient
  • Recognize and treat various headache types
  • Formulate an approach to the diagnosis and management of various disorders of the peripheral nervous system
  • Recognize and treat various forms of dementias and Parkinson disease
  • Evaluate and treat patients with multiple sclerosis and recognize its mimickers
  • Recognize the role of neuroimaging and electrodiagnostic/ genetic/ and autonomic testing in the management of neurologic disease
