A Lognitudinal Investigation of Anxiety Treatment

Melissa Hord, Ph.D.

 

Introduction
Dr. Hord is currently completing a two-year Medical Psychology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in the specialty area of Clinical Child Psychology. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maine and completed an internship at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Hord’s clinical work has focused on providing evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with a broad range of mental health problems, with a recent emphasis on anxiety, behavior problems, and eating disorders. Following completion of her fellowship training in September 2017, Dr. Hord plans to remain in Rochester providing services to children and families in the community.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the number of appointments patients receive following an anxiety diagnosis.
  2. Describe outcomes for children receiving treatment in a specialty anxiety clinic compared to other children diagnosed with anxiety disorders.

Global Health Care in Guatemala:  The Influences of Culture and Systems on Development

Amanda Lucchetti, Psy.D.

Introduction
Dr. Lucchetti is currently a second year fellow in Pediatric Neuropsychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s Hospital Colorado through the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and Department of Neurodevelopmental Behavioral Pediatrics. Clinically, she is interested in the assessment and intervention of young children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as in the neurocognitive functioning of children and adolescents with complex developmental and medical presentations. She also has specialized interests in working with Spanish-speaking families. Her research interests include investigating brain-behavior relationships and family functioning, particularly in children with autism spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, and epilepsy.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize primary global health initiatives as a pediatric neuropsychologist in Guatmala.
  2. Recognize barriers to clinical care in an underseved, rual area.
  3. Identify translational clinical skills that can be used across cultural boundaries.
