Using Technology to Improve Mental Health Care

Introduction

Stephen P.H. Whiteside, Ph.D., ABPP is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Pediatric Anxiety Disorders Program.  Dr. Whiteside's research group focuses on improving access to evidence-based care for pediatric OCD and anxiety disorders through the development of effective and efficient treatments facilitated by technology.  He has received research funding from NIMH, the International OCD Foundaton, and the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation.  He has published over 60 articles, co-authored the book Exposure Therapy for Anxiety:  Principles and Practice, and is the co-developer of Mayo Clinic Anxiety Coach, an iOS application.

1. Recognize areas of practice that commonly do not meet the evidence-based recommendations.

2. Identify opportunities in their practice to more consistently implement evidence-based recommendations.
