Mary Fristad, Ph.D., ABPP

Introduction

Mary A. Fristad, PhD, ABPP, is Professor and Vice Chair for Research and Academic Affairs in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC); she also holds faculty appointments in Psychology and Nutrition. Dr. Fristad received her doctorate from the University of Kansas after completing her clinical internship at Brown University. Dr. Fristad is board certified in clinical psychology and clinical child and adolescent psychology. She has served on the inaugural executive boards and has been president of both the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Dr. Fristad’s research focuses on assessment and treatment of mood disorders in children, with a particular focus on bipolar disorder. She has been principal investigator, co-investigator, or consultant on 60 federal, state, industry, and/or foundation grants and has over 200 publications, including books and workbooks for parents, children and clinicians on how to assess and treat children with mood disorders.

2. Describe the trends in social media usage for adolescents.
3. List protective steps adolescents and their families can take to reduce negative impact of social media.
