The Porphyrias:  What the Internist, Neurologist, Dermatologist, etc. Should Know 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how knowledge of porphyrin biochemistry helps to have a rational understanding of the pathophysiology of the porphyrias.
  • Understand about the clinical presentation of the porphrias and the appropriate biochemical and molecular tests required to make a diagnosis of the disorders of porphyrin metabolism.
  • Understand appropriate treatment options for the porphyrias.

ABOUT Cancer Center Grand Rounds are held weekly on Thursdays for faculty and junior faculty, investigators and junior investigators, scholars, graduate students, medical students, research fellows, administration and allied health staff.
