Sports Medicine for the Primary Care Provider - Online |
October 25, 2019 - October 24, 2022 This online course will give participants the confidence to accurately diagnose and treat sports-related conditions and the knowledge to determine appropriate testing and referral criteria. This course will supplement skills learned in residency and early medical, nursing and physical therapy practice, allow learners to fill in gaps in their training, and reinforce existing knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions, diagnosis, and treatment. Topics covered include musculoskeletal conditions and procedural techniques primary care clinicians can utilize for athletes and active individuals. |

Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine - Live Webinar Series - January 19, 2021 |
January 19, 2021, 6:30-7:30 p.m. EST Chronic tendinopathy is extremely common accounting to more than 30% of Sports-Related injuries. It can also occur via occupational or lifestyle activities which can impair work and recreational performance. Management can be very challenging which can cause frustration to the patient. Our multidisciplinary team will discuss how to appropriately diagnose tendinopathies and appropriately focus your non-operative treatment of these patients. We will review the pathophysiology of tendinopathies in order to understand different treatment options we can offer the patient. A review of the current evidence for extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), nitroglycerin patches, corticosteroid injections, high volume image guided injection (HVIGI), percutaneous needle tenotomies (PNT) and platelet rich plasma (PRP). In addition we will review the current rehabilitation recommendation which is the most important aspect in treating tendinopathy.
