Advancements in physical medicine and rehabilitation are moving forward at an unprecedented rate. In order to stay abreast of these advancements and refine our expertise, physical medicine and rehabilitation professionals require opportunities to collaborate and share information. This multidisciplinary course is designed to update professionals with regards to techniques and topics pertaining to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Some topics of interest include: musculoskeletal rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, brain injury, concussion management, spinal cord injury, cancer rehabilitation, fall prevention and care of the critically ill patient. Choose from multiple afternoon workshops included in registration fee (additional fee for the Regenerative Medicine Workshop).

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the most up to date rehabilitation treatment recommendations for managing low back pain.
  • Recognize the current concepts of “Regenerative Medicine” and how this may apply to patient care.
  • Describe the principles of clinical decision making for safe and effective early rehabilitation in ICU.
  • Identify the common management strategies for concussions.
  • Review the current concepts for avoidance of falls in the older adult population.
