DESCRIPTION
This activity occurs on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (when applicable) Tuesdays in Gonda 19-121.
eTumor Boards are multidisciplinary, multi-site discussions, offering participating providers informal advice regarding diagnostic tests and treatment options for current complex cancer cases. These live Mayo Clinic videoconferences provide a forum for dynamic and collegial conversations between Mayo Clinic specialists and providers at Mayo Clinic Care Network sites. In addition to their impact on patient care, eTumor Boards also provide considerable educational value to Mayo Clinic and Mayo Clinic Care Network providers.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Dedicated clinical teams with representation from both diagnostic (pathology and radiology) and treatment (hematology, radiation oncology, surgery, and other subspecialties pertinent to the cases of the day such as dermatology, pulmonary medicine, etc.) specialties participate in case review discussions. In room attendance also includes NPs, PAs, nurses, pharmacists, and individuals in training.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Describe applicable results of important histology-specific clinical trials and put into clinical context
- Identify investigational therapeutic regimens that would be alternatives to standard of care approaches
- Evaluate current clinical practice approaches and applications to each specific patient and suggest alternative radiology, pathology, and clinical practices
