The Center for Individualized Medicine Grand Rounds lecture series is designed to highlight the latest in scientific discovery and innovation in translating Individualized Medicine to meet current and future patient needs.  The audience will consist of staff physicians and researchers, residents and fellows, genetic counselors, and allied health staff. Grand Rounds is scheduled the second Thursday of every month and is webcast to locations throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise, reaching hundreds of individuals in Rochester, Minnesota; Jacksonville, Florida and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Rick Guidotti, an award-winning photographer, is the founder and director of POSITIVE EXPOSURE, an innovative arts, advocacy, and education organization which utilizes the visual arts to celebrate human diversity, inclusive of ethnicity, religion, age, ability, learning style, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.

Course Objectives:

After the presentation, attendees will be able to:

1. Describe the social and psychological experiences of people of all ages and ethno-cultural heritages living with genetic, physical, behavioral and cognitive conditions.
2. Discuss ways to best meet the needs of children and families with, or at risk for a genetic disorder.
3. Explore opportunities to see each individual living with a genetic difference first and foremost as a human being with his/her own special needs, rather than as a specific diagnosis/disease entity.
