Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the principles of Mohs micrographic surgery with immunohistochemistry (IHC) for the treatment of melanoma and melanoma in situ.
  • Compare margin control, recurrence rates, and clinical outcomes of Mohs micrographic surgery with IHC versus traditional wide local excision for melanoma.
  • Recognize appropriate patient selection criteria and clinical scenarios in which Mohs surgery with IHC offers the greatest benefit.
  • Discuss technical considerations, pitfalls, and strategies to optimize accuracy and efficiency when performing Mohs surgery with immunohistochemistry for melanoma.
