
Faculty Development One-Day Course –Simulation Education
We are extending an invitation for a limited number of interested individuals to attend a Faculty Development One Day Course in simulation education on August 25, 2016, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Attendees will experience a full day of dynamic training aimed at developing skills that can be applied immediately in the clinical environment, in classrooms, and in the field.
This is an intensive, hands-on course. Learners can expect to achieve the following outcomes:
- Define and develop goals and objectives for simulation education
- Develop and execute a simulation exercise
- Illustrate methods of debriefing and conduct an in-depth debrief
- Consider and plan for simulation in your current curriculum
This event is open to all Mayo allied staff and employees, along with select community collaborators. Please encourage colleagues to attend who are interested in developing or expanding their simulation education capabilities. Application for course CME has been submitted.

Physicians, N.P., P.A., Nurses and any allied staff who wish to use simulation as an educational and/or assessment tool.

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Describe concepts of simulation-based education.
- Describe differing types of simulation.
- Describe elements for well-designed simulation-based education to achieve good outcomes.
- Identify ways to use simulation for an existing curriculum or a new simulation course/experience.
- Identify the elements of simulation course/scenario design.
- Develop simulation scenarios.
- Describe ways to prepare the learner prior to simulation activities.
- Describe debriefing strategies.
- Demonstrate effective debriefing strategies.
