Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify the rates of death and dying in the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU)
• Recognize the different types of EMU cardiorespiratory events and their risk factors and pathophysiologic mechanisms
• Identify pre-admission assessment of the patient’s risk for cardiorespiratory arrest in the EMU
• Apply measures for preventing cardiorespiratory arrests and for promptly executing rescue and resuscitation
