Nursing Grand Rounds: Living on the Edge: The COVID19 Pandemic and Aftermath
The COVID-19 pandemic has put extreme stress on the health care workforce in the United States, leading to workforce shortages as well as increased health care worker burnout, exhaustion, and trauma. These pandemic-related challenges have taken place in a context of significant pre-existing workforce shortages and mal-distribution, as well as in a workforce where burnout, stress, and mental health problems were already significant problems. This lecture will focus on the COVID19 pandemic and its effect on healthcare professionals and healthcare systems.
Target Audience
This CNE course is designed for RNs, LPNs, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss healthcare in the United States-2020 before COVID
- Review the burden of COVID19 pandemic-were we prepared?
- Examine the pandemic aftermath-2020 after COVID
- Recognize lessons learned and future opportunities-building a resilient healthcare workforce and system
