Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Board Review for Initial Certification and Recertification (CVBR) will provide the cardiologist and internist with an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. Well-known experts in each field will give in-depth, engaging lectures on state-of-the-art subjects in cardiovascular medicine. Each lecture will be followed by a question and answer session with an audience response system. This annual interdisciplinary course offers participants an overview of current topics in internal medicine including interactive case studies using automated audience response system. Interdisciplinary speakers present diverse clinical topics chosen for applicability to NP/PA and primary care physician practice settings. As complex patients transition care to the outpatient arena, current guideline based medicine typically initiated in the hospital setting continues to be important as patients transition out of the acute care setting.

This annual course provides new case-based updates on the diagnosis and treatment of commonly encountered challenging cardiovascular conditions. Each year the program has new and refreshed content but continues to focus on various challenging aspects of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, pericardial and myocardial disorders, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders, vascular medicine topics, and preventive cardiology. The case-based review will address the relevant guidelines and treatment options for patients with these conditions.

The course focuses on a review of current clinical practice related to recognizing seizures and epilepsy in conjunction with adjunctive EEG testing and includes details about how technology can lead to incorrect diagnosis and treatment.
