Caring for the Dying and All Things Hospice 2018

March 5-9, 2018 - Fairmont Orchid, Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii

This intensive half-day workshop will focus on common clinical issues encountered in caring for patients at the end of life.  This session will utilize case-based discussion sessions aimed at de-mystifying hospice eligibility, your role as a clinician referring a patient to hospice, how to document appropriately and how to respond efficiently to calls from a hospice team about your patient.  Course leaders will also focus on common, yet challenging, clinical scenarios at the end of life such as requests for hastened death, how to handle artificial nutrition and hydration in end of life scenarios and how to safely and responsibly care for patients with addiction at the end of life.  This session will be interactive with plenty of time to tackle your tough cases.  Aimed at clinicians of all levels of involvement in caring for patients at the end of life.
