Trauma informed care requires an ability to recognize the effects of traumatic experiences and the prevalence of those effects in individuals seeking medical and mental health care. A thorough understanding of the constellation of symptoms and mental health presentations of traumatized clients, the neurobiology of trauma, and application of Judith Herman’s Tri-phasic trauma intervention model will be addressed.
