Nursing Grand Rounds: Laying the Foundation: Essential Concepts in the Provision of Trauma Responsive Care Effective patient services require not only an understanding of the basics of trauma, but also its effects on the human mind, body, and soul. Trauma informed care requires an ability to recognize the effects of traumatic experiences and the prevalence of those effects in individuals seeking medical and mental health care. A thorough understanding of the constellation of symptoms and mental health presentations of traumatized clients, the neurobiology of trauma, and application of Judith Herman’s Tri-phasic trauma intervention model will be addressed. Participants will learn to support clients who have difficulty making gains due to inability to regulate emotionally or physiologically, and to apply proactive strategies attuned to the complex needs of traumatized clients. ADHD has long been felt to be a disorder of childhood that gradually diminishes as one approaches adulthood, however it’s now being questioned whether ADHD can develop in adulthood. It’s thought that around 4% of adults have ADHD and that the majority are undiagnosed and untreated. In this podcast, we’ll discuss ADHD in adults, its effects on those who have it, and how it can be managed. Our guest is Mohit Chauhan, M.B.B.S., a psychiatrist from the Mayo Clinic.

Small Bowel Video Capsule Endoscopy: Training and Competency Assessment - Online Course

Available until April 1, 2027 - Online CME Course

Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) is currently considered the gold standard in the investigation of small bowel disease and is widely available in clinical practice as a noninvasive modality to examine the small bowel. This course provides a structured VCE training curriculum with a validated assessment tool for gastroenterologists and trainees and includes four hours of didactic tutoring, hardware and software instruction, and review of cases with VCE experts. Participants are then expected to complete 25 VCE interpretations. A formalized and validated assessment tool was developed and referred to as the capsule competency test (CapCT). This test evaluates the fundamentals of knowledge for the procedure including indications and contraindications, and the ability to accurately identify, interpret, and document VCE findings. Participants are required to complete the CapCT as part of their training.
