Mayo Clinic’s Hospital Medicine Boot Camp for NPPAs is a two-day course designed for the novice learner, ideally within the first year of their hospital-based NPPA position. This course is meant to be fun and full of practical information taught by faculty that use current guidelines and share tidbits of experience to help successfully care for acutely ill hospitalized patients. It is filled with a variety of commonly encountered hospital scenarios followed by interactive and informal discussion. Open dialog is encouraged. Participants should feel free to wear scrubs and comfortable shoes, bring a stethoscope, and reference/clinical materials used in daily practice. Despite being called boot camp there are no physical fitness elements to the course.

Mayo Clinic’s Critical Care Review for the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant is an interactive course designed for advanced practice providers working with critically ill adult patients. The course is comprised of lecture-based sessions covering essential acute care topics such as vasoactive support, ECMO, secondary trauma assessment, intracranial pressure, anticoagulant reversal, acute liver failure, toxicology, and more.

This course will provide education on the role of psychiatry and other mental service professionals within behavioral health care and will include topics highlighting how professionals navigate various treatment modalities to address individual behavioral health needs.

September 28, 2024 - Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville Florida

The course serves as an update in the diagnosis and management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and related complications. This activity will target physicians who take care of patients with IBD including internal medicine residents, gastroenterology fellows, internists and family medicine physicians as well as pharmacists, IBD RNs, Advanced Practice Providers (APRNs and PAs) and gastroenterologists.

This course focuses on the management of pancreatic diseases and includes didactic presentations from Mayo Clinic and other international experts on this topic. This one-day course provides easy access to pancreas experts to highlight recent innovations in the management of pancreatic conditions and the therapies that can be incorporated into clinical practice. This in-person and live-stream course allows for interaction with the speakers and brings a practical perspective on how to optimize care for patients with pancreatic disorders. Topics discussed include the latest advances in the management of benign and malignant pancreatic disorders.

November 4, 2025 - Mayo Clinic - Rochester, Minnesota

This advanced debriefing course will address the needs of simulation facilitators who are interested in improving their debriefing skills. Using a combination of interactive and immersive group work, this session will focus on enriching facilitation skills of the debriefers and provide an opportunity to reflect on their own practices for better educational outcomes. Enrollment is limited to encourage engagement of all attendees.
