This course focuses on the management of pancreatic diseases and includes didactic presentations from Mayo Clinic and other international experts on this topic. This one-day course provides easy access to pancreas experts to highlight recent innovations in the management of pancreatic conditions and the therapies that can be incorporated into clinical practice. This in-person and live-stream course allows for interaction with the speakers and brings a practical perspective on how to optimize care for patients with pancreatic disorders. Topics discussed include the latest advances in the management of benign and malignant pancreatic disorders.

Scholarships

Scholarships will be awarded to trainees (nursing/medical students, residents, etc.) that attend this course. Those interested in receiving a scholarship are required to submit a brief 1-paragraph essay explaining the importance and relevance of this course to their fellowship. Essays will be reviewed, and scholarship recipients determined by the course director. Preference will be given to those attending in-person. This is a two-step process: 1) Submit your essay here. 2) After essays are reviewed and accepted, details will be provided to recipients on how to register. The scholarship will cover the cost of the course registration fee. The deadline for submission is March 10, 2025.

Target Audience

This course is designed for gastroenterologists, internal medicine physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Choose the appropriate IV fluid hydration strategy for patients with acute pancreatitis.
  • Assess the type of pain individuals with chronic pancreatitis are experiencing.
  • Compare diagnostic modalities for pancreatic cancer screening.
  • Estimate the pancreatic cancer risk based on genetic or familial risk factors.
  • Formulate a treatment plan that addresses pain pathways.
