Mayo Clinic Health System presents the second annual, Transforming Community and Rural Healthcare 2024 CME course. This two-day symposium brings together multidisciplinary healthcare leaders, providers, administrators, researchers, and educators to discuss critical issues impacting the health of community and rural populations. Sessions focus on addressing challenges faced across rural communities including, but not limited to, access to care, innovative technology, and workforce development and retention. The course includes interactive sessions enabling participants to directly apply new transformative approaches to community and rural health settings.

This course reviews the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiac and vascular diseases of patients with cancer throughout the continuum of their care. The course provides an overview and update of cardiovascular complications and comorbid cardiovascular diseases in patients with cancer including heart failure, myocardial ischemia, hypertension, thromboembolism, and arrhythmia. This multidisciplinary course includes lectures by faculty from cardiology, hematology, oncology, and nephrology. The course is directed towards the spectrum of providers who care for patients with cancer to enable them to recognize the cardiovascular risk of their patients and take action to minimize this risk. This includes providers in cardiology, hematology-oncology, primary care, and hospital internal medicine.
